The 2019 La Commanderie has an opulent bouquet with lavish black and blueberry fruit, a little oaky but undeniably very seductive. It does not overwhelm the senses. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, fine acidity, multi-layered with a grippy, lightly spiced finish. I think this underwent maximum but not excessive extraction and therefore constitutes a well-crafted Saint-Émilion packed with ageing potential.
